About Me

Hi, I’m Vanessa I’m happy you’re here!

Welcome to Overthinking Out Loud, which is exactly what it sounds like: a place where I take all the thoughts that keep me up at night and finally do something with them besides overthinking it.

A little about me

I’m 30, I live in Roxborough Park Colorado and I’m a mom to a curious, hilarious, almost four year old daughter whose every sentence starts with “Mom.” I’m engaged to my awesome fiancé, who is my complete opposite in the best way, and our German shepherd Levi

During the day, I lead a customer success team at a software company and I’m also a licensed real estate agent because apparently one full time job wasn’t enough for me. I’m told this is called “doing too much.” I prefer to call it having range

I was raised in Palau by my grandmother until I was nine, then moved to the States and grew up partly in Guam, North Carolina, and Key West before heading to college at Florida Gulf Coast University and now Colorado!

Why I started this blog

I’ve always been someone who feels everything. I’m an empath, a recovering people pleaser, and a professional overthinker, and for a long time I kept most of that to myself. Therapy has been teaching me to stop shrinking to fit into rooms, and this blog is part of that. It’s me taking up a little more space out loud and a hope to find a community that feels the same.

I also just love to write. I’ve wanted a place to share the books I’m reading, the places I’m lucky enough to visit, the messy and beautiful parts of motherhood, and the poems that come out when a regular paragraph won’t do.

What you’ll find here

  • Inner Thoughts: the honest stuff. Therapy lessons, people pleasing, being “too much,” and healing

  • Motherhood: raising my daughter, working mom life, Friday girls days, college savings, and trying to find my village.

  • Travel: guides from places I love, from Munich and Honolulu to Palau, written so you can actually use them, plus our local favorites here in Colorado.

  • Books: what I’m reading, what I loved, and what I couldn’t finish no matter how hard I tried.

Why I’m glad you’re here

If you’ve ever felt like too much, overthought a text for an hour, or quietly wondered where you belong, you’re in the right place. I don’t have it all figured out and I’m not pretending to. I’m just a girl with a lot of feelings, a full calendar, and fresh nails, trying to do life a little more honestly.

Grab a coffee, stay a while, and come overthink with me.

Love, V
